OOS Mobile
The transfer of information in the shipping industry can be slow. This slow transfer can result in critical decisions being made by operators too late. It can cost a company millions. We set out to solve this problem by showing users the information that matters most, in the palm of their hand, with the ability to act and resolve.
Prototyping and quick development cycles aided us in getting this into the hands of the users fast. We gathered feedback and made rapid iterations which advanced the product's progression.

OOS Itinerary
Ninety percent of everything is transported by sea. That certainly takes a lot of planning. Designing an itinerary product that facilitates the needs of various personas involves a lot of discovery. From Operators to Crew Officers and even visiting the Captain onboard - insights gathered from interviews, workshops, and shadowing shaped this product.
My interactive prototype aided gathering key stakeholder feedback early in the product development cycle.

Cadmium
For some businesses, verifying the identity and financial status of your customer is legally required. Trusting the information can be challenging. For the customer, providing this information can be repetitive and a security risk. Cadmium connects the business and the customer and provides a conduit into Open Banking without the technical and regularity complexities.
I improved essential workflows for both business and customer. Using Material Design System, I crafted a contemporary web application.
My user flows, wireframes, and prototype helped steer the experience and enabled developers to understand what we were trying to achieve.

Emplorium enables businesses to talk to their customers. Either person to person or person to bot. I am analysing critical and complex workflows. I am using Material Design System to create a consistent and intuitive experience.

Hi, I'm Dean, a London based Lead Product Designer. I specialise in application & SaaS product design. I combine a deep knowledge of the design process with a sharp eye for pixel detail. I put the user at the centre of my design to deliver value for them and the business. For the last four years, I've been designing applications for the maritime industry. I've worked on over 18 products that contribute to a suite called OpenOcean Studio.
User insights are essential to me. So much so, one brisk February morning, I went down to the Port of Southampton, boarded a container vessel stretching over 300m long - to speak to the Captain and Chief Engineer. My objective; gather insights that would enable myself and my team to build better and more valuable products. Not only did I learn about their pains, needs, goals and behaviour. The findings were a gentle reminder that user insights can steer the success of a product.
